If I need to apply a Damp Proof Membrane what should I use
For a NEW Sand / Cement Substrate: Install a good polythene membrane such as Visqueen Ecomembrane which complies to BSEN 13967:2004 below a minimum of 50mm screed.
For an EXISTING Sand / Cement Substrate: Trowell on with a normal smoothing trowell BONA R580. This is a silane-based moisture barrier which is a one part and dries after 6 - 8 hours.
For BITUMEN Substrates: Paint or Roller on 2 coats of BONA R410. This is a 2 part, Epoxy Resin material and you can apply the second coat 3 hours after the first. It adheres to Bitumen, creates a Damp Proof Membrane and is compatible with BONA R850 adhesive.
