Engineered Wood Flooring

What are Engineered boards
Engineered boards, are layers of ply and a final hardwood wear layer, glued and fused together in controlled factory conditions to produce a very stable product.

The Solid Wood Flooring Company use only hardwood backing and the construction of our boards are 8 layers of cross ply Birch as a backing, with a final wearing layer of either 4, 5 or 6mm of solid wood.

This produces a very stable board that is loadbearing and structurally sound.

How should I store Engineered boards before fitting
All wood is Hygroscopic and has the ability to attract water molecules from the surrounding environment through either adsorption (forming on the surface) or absorption (penetrating into the structure), so it is important that boards are stored in controlled temperatures.

Do not store anywhere where they can pick up moisture.

Engineered boards do not need acclimatisating prior to fitting and can be fitted immediately.
UNLESS they are being fitted over underfloor heating, in which case they should be acclimatised for at least 14 days with the heating on at 18 degrees C

Store the boards off the substrate and support them every 400mm with batons and at least 500mm away from any wall. Open the ends of the cartons to allow air to penetrate into the cartons.
