Hardwood flooring fitting services: We have negotiated preferential rates for the fitting of all our wooden floors. If you wish for one of our fitters to visit for a full survey there will probably be a £50 charge for travelling, time and fuel costs. The £50 fee will be fully refundable should you then employ the wood flooring fitter to install your wooden floor. Not all the fitters will charge this but we have had a lot of people who have used their expertise on site and then used someone else. We feel this is not fair and hope that you understand. Any comments on this would be greatly appreciated as we welcome feedback from our customers.

The actual cost of fitting a wooden floor will depend on where you are located, how much flooring is to be fitted and the state of the following:
  • State of the subfloor
  • If furniture needs to be moved (a clear house or room is quicker to do)
  • Sate of skirting boards and architraves
  • Will an old carpet have to be removed?
  • Level of Humidity and moisture
It is important that before any floor is fitted that you get a survey done so that humidity and moisture test can be taken. The fitter at that time can then be sure the sub floor is sound and acceptable for a wooden floor and can accurately tell you the square metres required and any other pre-preparation required for a trouble free wood floor installation.

Generally the rates we have negotiated will be between £15/m2 to £25/m2. You will always get a better price for large quantities. We have a large number of experienced teams across the UK and their work is continually monitored for quality, customer service, reliability and professionalism.

We only recommend wood flooring fitters that have years of experience and will ensure that if you have any issues after the floor is fitted that it will be rectified. We stand behind our recommended fitters and they look after all our clients and customers due to the fact that they get a lot of business from us and are therefore keen to ensure that you get a trouble free installation. For example if it is an empty room or house we can generally fit 100m2 to 200m2 in a day.

Our fitting prices include trimming of all doors, architraves and cutting the skirting board so that the floor can go underneath. If you do not use our fitting service you must read all the terms and conditions on the web site and make sure that the person fitting your floors knows what he is doing. You should follow the fitting guidelines and always check the humidity and moisture content of your subfloor.

There are too many horror stories to mention where people have employed a local builder to fit their floor, you can see one example here where a marble fireplace was badly damaged due to incorrect fitting. In fact solid wood can expand to such an extent that it will push a brick wall down. Do no go “cheap” on fitting as you will not save money in the long terms. Nearly all our trade builder clients use our fitters so please make sure they know what they are doing.

Skirting Boards
Our fitters have machines that will cut a slice off the bottom of your skirting board so that the floor can be fitted underneath the skirting board without having to remove it which can be very expensive and leave a mess. This is another reason to employ a specialist, see Cutting Skirting Boards

We can supply and fit or supply only but if you get one of our fitters to do a survey and obtain a quote using our floor and then decide to buy another floor not from us then there will be a 25% surcharge to the price quoted if the fitter has time to install the floor. We are very precious about our fitters as they are the best and love fitting our floors as it is quicker and you do not get lots of short wood flooring in our random length packs

Solid Wood Floors: You must always acclimatise a solid wood floor in the rooms where it will be laid for at least 10 days. Remember Solid Wood Floors will expand and contract during the seasons and the extent of this will depend on your heating and personal requirements.

Engineered Wood Floors: Generally the cost of fitting engineered boards is less as they do not expand and contract as much as solid boards, do not need to be acclimatised, (unless fitting over underfloor heating) and due to our quality can be fitted quickly.
