Wood flooring has been installed at a Massachusetts hotel that is undergoing a makeover as part of its switch from the Holiday Inn to Crowne Plaza brands.
The Holiday Inn Boston/Woburn, which is in the process of rebranding as the Crowne Plaza Boston/Woburn, will see its old carpeting replaced with hardwood flooring as part of the extensive facelift, reports World Interior Design Network.
Some 196 guest rooms - including four luxury two-bedroom suites - will be refurbished during the project, along with a sports bar and grill, and a 9,000 sq ft meeting area.
During the first phase of the work, the Scoreboard Sports Bar & Grill - capable of seating 260 people - will be revamped to incorporate 40 high-definition televisions. Its Boston sports theme decor is complemented by bamboo flooring and bright shades to distinguish between the dance floor, restaurant and lounge.
Phase two will involve the renovation of the hotel's exterior and lobby area, while advanced audiovisual, sound and teleconferencing solutions will be rolled out in the building's numerous ballrooms and meeting areas.
Finally, padded headboards, cherry console desks, 42-inch flatscreen TVs and luxury bedding will be fitted in all guest rooms, which will also feature walk-in showers fronted by sliding glass doors.
Draperies have been replaced with sheers and new flooring, furniture pieces, lighting fixtures and wall and window treatments have been fitted as part of the renovation of the Grand and Middlesex ballrooms.
The whole project is scheduled for completion by this September. Last month, Marriott announced that the Elysee Palace hotel in Nice, France is also in line for a major refit that will see wood flooring laid out in many of its rooms.
Amy McPherson, president and managing director for Marriott International in Europe, said: "We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our AC Hotels by the Marriott brand in to France."
