People 'care about wood flooring'

Investing in a wooden surface for your floor can be more than simply a monetary transaction; it can be the start of a period in life when you value the interior of your home higher than ever.

Many of us allow other types of flooring – such as carpet and lino – to fall into a poorer state, perhaps because there is no way to effectively keep them clean, tidy and in a good-as-new shape once they are more than a few months old.

But this is not the case with wood, which can be swept, cleaned and polished relatively easily as often as you wish to do so.

The Wall Street Journal has quoted the words of one cleaning expert, who believes people are generally careful and considerate when it comes to their hardwood floor.

Chad Nordhagen is the director of marketing at Swedish cleaning products company Bona AB. He has suggested that there are several ways to go about keeping wood in top shape, all of which will pay off from an aesthetic viewpoint.

"Many consumers, if they couldn't find a product they trusted enough simply weren't cleaning," he stated, referring to recent market research carried out by the firm.

It perhaps illustrates just how fondly many view their wood, when they refuse to use anything but the best treatments for it. The business is of the belief that the majority of individuals will pay out for an extra cleaning solution specifically for their flooring.

Of course, you might want to remember to first invest in a wood floor that is special enough to be worthy of such an attentive owner.

Helen Bygraves and Jenny Weiss, directors of hillhouseinteriors.com and members of the Society of British Interior Design, recently offered their tips on the subject. They said dark wood floors are still very much in vogue and a fashionable option in any home or commercial property.
