A prestigious Chicago home that is said to be a symbol of the American Dream has been put up for sale by its owners, Emily Novick and her husband.
It is with a heavy heart that Ms Novick will wave goodbye to the Isodore H Heller House, which has been her address since 2004. She described it as a wonderful place to live and one of the best examples of the work of esteemed designer Frank Lloyd Wright.
He put the house together in 1893 and it has remained a beautiful place to live ever since. Indeed, its current occupant, Ms Novick, told the Huffington Post that it is one of the most well-regarded of all Lloyd Wright's buildings.
"It is considered an architectural masterpiece and a work of art, but it also happens to be a wonderful family house. The way it's laid out, the size of the rooms really make it a very good family house, which isn't always true of architecturally-significant homes," she is quoted by the Daily Mail as stating.
However, what may well take the breath away of those who take a viewing of the property in the Hyde Park area of the city is its high-quality wood flooring, which is evident in many rooms.
Indeed, wood makes up a huge part of the home's decor, as it is used not only on the floor but also on wall panels. From the kitchen to bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways, there is no escaping the aesthetic qualities of wood in the abode.
Of course, those living in the UK who wish to adopt a similar high-class style can do so by taking inspiration from the magnificent work of Lloyd Wright.
Another international spot in which wood is widely used is Tokyo. The Guardian this week documented ten of the Japanese capital's finest eateries, with the material used to provide beauty and functionality in several.
