Prime American Maple Grading

Prime Hard Maple flooring can come in may grades. We will only supply the AB grade which is prime because it does not have the black streaks you see in most Maple floors which is where the iron oxides drawn up by the Maple tree leave dark marks within the timber.  If you but cheap Maple floors you will get this and sapwood which is very soft.

The beauty of Maple floors is that the patina changes over time to become a warm golden colour, We will only use Bona Commercial Natural lacquer on our Maple. It is too hard to accept an oiled finish and the lacquer with due care and attention will last as long as the floor.

We have installed our Maple floors in Museum and Dance halls and it is very hard with a dense grain. It is harder on the Janka tests than Oak.
