Parquet Flooring Introduction

Parquet flooring, including traditional herringbone, weave patterns, square blocks, chevron and many other design are possible.

Parquet flooring was used in the old days to create patterns with small blocks of wood because there was no engineered flooring available and wide planks expanded and shrank consistently. These boards also warped and twisted due to climatic changes.  This is why in old buildings, such as pubs, you can see gaps between the boards and drafty floors.

Parquet blocks were normally 22mm thick being narrow and small they reacted less to the environment and were therefore more stable but they still moved which is why bitumen was used to fix them down to the sub floor. These blocks always worked loose and the bitumen is not a nice substance.

We developed our EAZY FIT parquet blocks to ensure there would be hardly any movement due them only being 8mm thick with no grooves in the back this means they are as good as the old blocks because if you continually sanded down the old blocks then you would hit the tongue after about 8mm.

We started with Oak and Walnut, two very popular materials and then thought about using the hardest and most sustainable material available today, which is strand woven bamboo. These are the same dimensions as our other parquet blocks but will move less and are harder wearing. The finish can be oil or lacquer and if you wish to have a different colour than the normal carbonised which is like a dark oak then you can use a coloured oil.

You can make any pattern with these blocks such as herringbone and weave patterns as well as chevron, and by using the long border pieces you can ensure that you have a unigue design.
