Design & Specification Manager, The Solid Wood Flooring Company
Izzy started her working life in customer-facing roles in the service industry and later at the retailer John Lewis. These experiences helped shape her understanding of customer service and the importance of being a conscientious and trustworthy team member.
With a life-long passion for interiors, design, and architecture, she went on to earn an Interior Architecture diploma from the prestigious Inchbald School of Design. She then pursued a career in London within the design industry, working for renowned studios and contributing to projects across the world.
From this, Izzy gained invaluable experience of the design world and an in-depth understanding of how architects and designers like to work. She now applies this knowledge to her role as Design and Specification Manager at The Solid Wood Flooring Company.
In her role, she prioritises making sure the company remains design-led, design-friendly, and studio-focused. She incorporates supplier initiatives that she knows work well for designers and architects while reducing the hurdles that often complicate the specification process.
I really appreciate the importance of a smooth specification process for members of the design industry, especially when decisions often need to be made very quickly so that projects can move forward and sign-off can be achieved.
One of my greatest achievements at The Solid Wood Flooring Company so far is the introduction and huge success of our informal CPD Lunch and Learn sessions.
Having worked on ‘both sides of the fence,’ I know exactly what I didn’t know, but really could have done with understanding, when specifying for a wide range of projects.
My aim now is to eliminate that for today’s industry professionals, making sure the designers and architects we work with are armed with the knowledge they need, and that we’re always on hand to deliver solutions for them.
