The project

SWFC has worked with Wildwood Retail across a number of projects, supporting its delivery of retail interiors with specialist wood flooring.

For Crew Clothing, Wildwood selected a white UV-oiled oak floor to lift the store interior and complement the brand’s wider design scheme. The Shrewsbury store was fitted with TW-E108 Narrow Brushed White UV Oiled Oak Flooring, creating a clean, understated floor that allows the fixtures, displays and merchandise to remain the focus of the space.

What flooring was specified?

TW-E108 Narrow Brushed White UV Oiled Oak Flooring is a 150mm-wide engineered oak plank with a brushed surface and white UV-oiled finish.

The board is manufactured at 15mm thickness with a 4mm oak wear layer and a tongue-and-groove profile. Its ABC Select grade retains a controlled level of natural variation and occasional knots, giving the floor the character of European oak without creating an overly rustic appearance.

Why does this engineered oak work well in a retail setting?

Commercial flooring needs to balance appearance with practical performance. TW-E108 combines the natural finish of real oak with an engineered construction designed to provide greater dimensional stability.

Its brushed surface emphasises the grain of the timber, while the white UV-oiled finish creates a lighter overall tone. The product has also been tested for slip resistance, achieving 60 PTV in dry conditions and 45 PTV in wet conditions, both classified as low slip risk.

The flooring is suitable for use with underfloor heating when installed in accordance with the correct requirements, providing further flexibility for commercial interior specifications.

What are the sustainability credentials?

TW-E108 is FSC® 100% certified, providing documented assurance that the timber comes from responsibly managed sources.

Responsible timber sourcing is central to SWFC’s wider approach to wood flooring. The company is FSC® and PEFC™ certified and does not source timber from rainforests, supporting architects, designers and contractors who need to consider material provenance as part of a project specification.

The completed Crew Clothing store

The completed Shrewsbury store shows how a relatively restrained flooring specification can make a significant contribution to a retail interior. The narrow plank format, subtle white finish and visible oak grain create a light, consistent backdrop while retaining the warmth and texture associated with natural timber.

It also demonstrates the role that carefully selected engineered wood flooring can play in commercial environments, where design intent has to be considered alongside technical performance, responsible sourcing and long-term suitability.
