How To Create A “Glossier” Look To Your Wood Floor

Project: How To Create A “Glossier” Look To Your Wood Floor

The Brushed and UV Oiled finishes used by The Solid Wood Flooring Company are purposely made with a low gloss level which is around 5%. This keeps the floor looking more natural and with the latest UV cured oils fully seals the surface as well.

Some clients though, prefer a slightly glossier look, which is why we make our finishes compatible with oils and satin hard wax oils.

The image below shows how our herringbone basket weave wood floors can be made to look glossier by buffing in a very thin coat of satin hard wax oil.

You can see the slight difference here as well as other images. The installation and buffing must be done by a professional so you do not end up with a “sticky” floor.

The images below show another area and the final look. This is not for everyone which is why we always produce finishes in a mat low gloss level because it is easy to increase this with oils. Using a maintenance oil will give a little lustre but not as much as a satin hard wax oil.

With our UV cured oil finishes you can create a bespoke floor that meets your requirements and matches your décor.
