Exclusive Apartment Conversion: The Solid Wood Way

15/08/2019

The Solid Wood Flooring Company had the honour to be part of the BBC Television Centre New Homes Development.

Proudly sitting at the centre of the Grade II Helios building, considered a Mid-century Modern masterpiece, is a statue of the sun god Helios, who the building is named after. The living spaces within the top floor this amazing building are arranged to make the most of the aspect and abundant natural light.

Steeped in history, turning an architectural icon into living space was no mean task and we are proud to have contributed to the story of the buildings. The project saw a team of Britain’s highest calibre architects led by Paul Monaghan of AHMM, come together to produce a show stopping result.

Within these bespoke apartments we installed our Herringbone Parquet Engineered Brushed White Oiled Oak flooring, and it is safe to say the final look was dramatic, modern and made an impact the minute you walk through the door. In white, this floor has been oiled here in our factory by our own in-house technicians to deliver a versatile flooring option that will last a lifetime.

Then there were the penthouses, a collection of only 3 available, they scream exclusivity. That is why we thought the project required our Herringbone Parquet Select Grade Walnut Engineered flooring. Walnut has a beautiful grain structure and a warmth that gives a luxe feel to any interior. Adding a rich tone to the modern architecture, the flooring really brought a depth to the room we knew we had the right product for the job.

Our brief was simple. Style. Class. Sophistication. Quality. And we feel that is exactly what this development achieves.
